How does Coaching Work?

No doubt you’ve got some questions such as how long does coaching take to work, what actually happens when you commit to coaching, what can you expect to achieve from coaching. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

Coaching mostly happens virtually in 45-60 minute sessions. You book a set time to call and we go from there. This makes the most of your time and is a very effective way of getting straight to the issue.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This depends on what you want to achieve. In order to see real, sustainable change I ask clients to commit to at least 6 coaching sessions as a minimum. Coaching is a process, like going to the gym – you need to put in time and effort to see real, lasting results.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A SESSION?
IS COACHING LIKE THERAPY?

I work around what my client needs. Usually clients like to have one session a week to get going and then fewer as they near their goal.

No, coaching is not therapy. I may look to the past to understand what is holding you back but coaching is dynamic and works in the present giving you a clear route to where you want to be, now and in the future.

WHAT DOES THE COACH DO?

My job is to get really clear on where you are now and ask the right questions to understand your goal and then come up with practical, realistic strategies that will get you were you want to be, with ease.

Coaching seems like a big investment. How can I justify the cost?

Coaching is an investment in yourself. Only you can determine the value you place on getting yourself from where you are now to where you want to be. A question to ask yourself might be: what might be the cost to your wellbeing and happiness if you don’t invest in a coach?
